animals of the last kind*

thorns thorn through old fabric
leaves show their pale faces between the rusty metal wires
birds with their chemically infused breath
and squishy high note split in two
by sharp dirty glass
from a broken window

slower, slower my heart is still beating
slower, slower

white powder, since your lips never felt
the spiking pain of freezing water falling from the puffy skies
lizards crawling between the rotten ribs
of the last animal of the last kind
choked on soft tissue of plastic

slower, slower my heart is still beating
slower slower

warm nights disturbed by loud cry of strom
empty sound of thunder stabbing the
darkness of the morning
that never came

slower, slower it does not matter
we die like animals, animals of the last kind
