Summer Heat

by Hassan Bukhari (M25)
Summer 2022 Issue

The wide fields, mineralized mountains and
the golden dusk under the surface.
All, but a single land of pure.
Four seasons and heavy monsoon
cradles itself on natural bounties.

But, the people of the land pine
for the growing decline
of the white foam

and the shade of whorled leaf patterns
As the fauna perishes.

Now they sit in their concrete shelters
under the scorching sun
hopeful to cool down with
air coolers and noisy fans
in the piquant flavors of summer heat.

Their streak of consequences emerge
with a simple short circuit
in the growing lattice
of insulated current.

Welcome to your Hell!
